ASAM and KYSAM Urge KBML to Stop Proposed Treatment Rules, Call for New Workgroup to Form
On July 27th, ASAM joined the Kentucky Society of Addiction Medicine (KYSAM) in sending a comment letter to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure (KBML) regarding their recent proposal to update opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment regulations. In the letter, KYSAM raised concerns that KBML’s proposal fails to reflect appropriate clinical guidelines. Further, KYSAM noted that the proposal was drafted without appropriate input from physicians in Kentucky treating OUD. KYSAM and ASAM urged KBML to retract the current proposal and start over with a new workgroup charged with reviewing the rules in a more open and transparent manner.
